Hotel Scoti was a simply wonderful place to stay, giving you the feeling of Florence the moment you walk into the common area and see the large fresco adorning the ceiling. Doreen the host was incredible in explaining the quirks of the 500 year old building from operating the locks that stick a little bit, to the ~100 year old elevator. It was all a really great experience stacked with charm. In terms of rooms they're basic (don't expect a TV etc.) but really nice with high ceilings, antique furniture and exceptionally clean. The location is nothing short of amazing being a reasonably short walk from every major sight, being not minutes from some very good restaurants. If you want a place with a TV, jacuzzi, and bar maybe look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a simple place to stay in Florence that will transport you to the era (in the best way possible) look no further.

A hotel with a lot of heart. It is a simple place, with nice rooms, spacious beautiful communal areas. Original wall paintings, large windows and cozy rooms. 24 hour access with your own keys, and an elevator. The owners are really nice and helpful. We had some health issues and the owners helped us with a lot of stuff, and we are eternally grateful. Is this the nicest looking, most exquisite hotel in Florence? Not at all, but it is the hotel with the biggest heart, and in a touristy city like Florence this is extremely important.
